PAC and PAM are two chemicals commonly used in water and wastewater treatment. They each have specific functions:

PAC (polyaluminum chloride):

Full name: Polyaluminum Chloride

Properties: PAC is an inorganic polymer coagulation Agent, made from aluminum chloride through polymerization reaction.

Function: PAC is mainly used as a coagulant. Through the functions of compressing the electric double layer, electrical neutralization and sweeping net capture, it promotes the gathering of tiny particles (such as colloids, suspended solids, etc.) in the water body to form a layer that is easy to settle. floc, thereby achieving the purpose of solid-liquid separation.

PAM (polyacrylamide):

Full name: Polyacrylamide

Properties: PAM is an organic polymer flocculant, which can be divided into anionic, cationic and non-ionic according to its ionic properties.

Function: PAM is mainly used to enhance the flocculation effect in water treatment. It can further connect the small flocs originally formed by PAC into large and dense alum flowers through adsorption and bridging, which significantly accelerates the settling speed. At the same time, PAM can also play an important role in sludge dehydration, solid-liquid separation, wastewater clarification and other aspects.

In short, PAC and PAM are usually used together in the water treatment process. PAC mainly plays a preliminary coagulation effect, while PAM further enhances the flocculation effect. The synergistic effect of the two helps to efficiently remove suspended solids and other substances in the water. pollutants and improve the effect of water purification. In addition, PAM is widely used in a variety of industrial and domestic wastewater treatment scenarios due to its unique flocculation properties.
